Soul, Blues, Psychedelic Rock
Assorted Shrubbery is the sole album by the short-lived Chicago-based band The Bushes, released in 1968 on the independent label Growth Records (catalog LP 200-08). The band, composed of white musicians Ron Stockert (keyboards/bass), Al Johnson (guitar), Joel Wilson (vocals), and John Zefo (drums), blended soul, blues rock, and psychedelic influences into a unique, if commercially overlooked, sound. The album features a mix of covers and originals. It was reissued in 2020 by Audio Clarity (ACL 0049), making it more accessible to modern audiences.
