Muleskinner is the eponymous debut album by the progressive bluegrass group Muleskinner, recorded at the Record Plant, Hollywood, California, between March 27 and April 14, 1973, and released later that year. It is their only studio album. The band, formed as a one-off group for a televised celebration of Bill Monroe's music on February 13, 1973, after Monroe's bus broke down and he could not attend, featured a supergroup of prominent musicians including David Grisman (mandolin, vocals), Peter Rowan (guitar, vocals), Clarence White (acoustic and electric guitar, vocals), Richard Greene (fiddle, vocals), Bill Keith (banjo, pedal steel), John Kahn (bass), and John Guerin (drums). The album was initially released under the title Muleskinner but was later re-issued on compact disc in 1994 under the title A Potpourri of Bluegrass Jam, a reference to the banner on the original album cover.
