Captain Beefheart - The Spotlight Kid (1972)
The Spotlight Kid is the sixth studio album by Captain Beefheart. Released in 1972, it is the only album credited solely to Captain Beefheart (Don Van Vliet) rather than Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band, although every member is featured, and its material is considered part of the band's repertoire. "The Magic Band" remain unmentioned.

Heavy rock band November was formed in Sweden 1968 under the name "The Imps" by Stålbrandt and Inge. Stålbrandt then left to form a band called "Train", and Inge soon followed him. The guitar player here was Snowy White, but he moved back to the UK and Rolf took his place. At a concert on November 1, 1969 the three first used the name November, and one of Sweden's first and most prominent hard rock / prog rock bands was born, noted for lyrics in Swedish.

US rock band from Detroit, Michigan. Formed in 1968 by vocalist / guitarist Joe Periano. Initially going by the name of Gangrene, the quartet became the unofficial house band at the Wooden Nickel club, where they were spotted by a local manager. Motown subsidiary Rare Earth signed the band on the condition they find a new name. Having decided upon Power of Zeus they began work on what would become their sole album The Gospel According To Zeus, released in 1970. Though a flop at the time, the LP has become highly sought after with crate diggers.

Mother Tucker’s Yellow Duck were a psychedelic-folk rock group from Vancouver, British Columbia formed in 1967. Commercial success eluded them although they managed to release two fine albums that melded blues, country, folk, hard rock and psychedelia seamlessly.

Despite receiving critical acclaim, they never achieved widespread popularity. They had only one U.S. Top 40 hit.
