In 1972 Dick Wagner guitarist and vocalist (ex-The Frost) formed the band Ursa Major in New York City, which included keyboardist Billy Joel and drummer Rick Mangone. However, Billy Joel was soon forced to leave the band for personal reasons and Wagner replaced him with bassist Greg Arama (ex-Amboy Dukes). The power trio released their only self-titled album and toured nationally with Jeff Beck and then Alice Cooper.

The Great Metropolitan Steam Band was a musical group active in the late 1960s, known primarily for their 1969 self-titled album released on Decca Records. The band specialized in a vibrant, brass-driven sound that drew from jazz, ragtime, and early 20th-century American music, reflecting the "steam band" style reminiscent of early jazz ensembles. Honest Injun is the sole studio album by Irish rock band Granny's Intentions, released in March 1970 on the Deram label. The album blends blues rock with folk and psychedelic influences, representing a transitional sound between the late 1960s beat scene and the emerging 1970s rock era. Although considered slightly disappointing upon release and out of step with prevailing musical trends, it has since gained recognition as a cult classic, particularly due to the early appearance of legendary guitarist Gary Moore.

The Sir Douglas Quintet was an American rock band formed in San Antonio, Texas in 1964. Active from 1964 to 1999. Overall, the quintet were exponents of good-times music with strong roots in blues and Texas-regional traditions. Good example of what they produced by absorbing the new jazz and psychedelic elements into their music can be found on the album Sir Douglas Quintet + 2.

Rock group based in Germany. Asterix's first lead singer was George Manros, who would be replaced by John Lawton and Toni Cavanaugh for the album recordings. Asterix was a direct predecessor of Lucifer's Friend; released one (eponymous) album in 1970. Technically, this was the first Lucifer's Friend album, only under a different name. Also, one single was released featuring a slightly altered line-up, without John's involvement.
