Methuselah (1969/2002) Lizard Records - LR 0715-2

MP3/320/90MB
Heavy Psychedelic Rock, Gospel Rock

Methuselah was an English rock band, founded and active in the 1960s. This late 60s group made two albums for Elektra but only the one above, which inevitably is now quite rare and sought-after, was released. Methuselah's released album has folk, R&B gospel and even pop influences in its melodies and vocals. The best tracks are "John", with astonishing guitar leads from Les Nicol the folky "High In The Tower Of Coombe" the gospel-influenced "My Poor Image" and "Fireball Woman". The French children’s song "Frere Jaques" is sung in French at the start and finish of the album, the second time with church choir-like vocals and some jazzy instrumentation in the middle segment. Les Nicol also played with other British musicians on the second Pavlov's Dog album.

MP3/320/84MB
Prog Rock

"Released to widespread indifference back in January 1970, Manchester band Pacific Drift’s album Feelin’ Free surely deserved a better fate. A sparkling, West Coast-influenced amalgam of post-psychedelic pop and early progressive rock, skilfully weaving wistful hippie laments and riff-laden rockers into a fully cohesive whole, it didn’t really attract any kind of attention until the Great Prog Rock Stampede of the late Eighties, when albums that couldn’t be given away when first released suddenly began to change hands for significant sums of money."...
